Concept

The high complexity of transportation and logistics operations, combined with increasing fuel cost, makes fleet productivity an element of vital importance for the viability of companies with fleets. There is, therefore, significant value to be unlocked by state-of-the-art, practical Fleet Management Systems (FMS), that can effectively optimize fleet productivity.

Existing state-of-the-art FMS are hosted on the cloud, as an ‘as a Service’ offering, and provide significant graphical information system capability (the typical FMS dot-on-the-map functionality) while addressing the majority of operational and maintenance management requirements. Despite there attributes, existing solutions remain incapable of transforming the plethora of readily-available big data into actionable insights, to promote cost-efficient, eco-friendly behaviours for drivers and fleet managers.

The current NAVARCHOS 2 FMS (www.navarchos.com) operates on  scalale, highly availiable and hiph performace cloud based infrastructure in k8s cluster bare metal setup. In addition to the monitoring and reporting functionalities it provides, it includes:

  1. Real-time driver-centric notification and recommendation algorithms to promote eco-driving behavior

  2. Intelligent metrics and analytics that provide a comprehensive fleet overview and complete control to fleet managers

  3. Routing optimization and scheduling tools that increase fleet productivity

NAVARCHOS 3 aims to extend the current solution in two main areas, that would render it state-of-the-art, and competitive at a global scale. These are:

  1. Integrate a cloud-based, ‘Predictive Maintenance’ service within the FMS.

    a) Enhanced accuracy by combining unsupervised learning detection with supervised learning techniques.

    b) Practicality achieved by adopting a distance-based anomaly detection strategy that can be applied at runtime.

  2. Develop an interoperability layer to expand ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) device compatibility and consolidates multi-source data to a common data model.

    a) Blends state-of-the-art IoT and Big Data technologies

    b) Contributes to interoperability, extensibility, and scalability of the overall FMS system

The combination of ISTOGNOSIS’ FMS expirence and DATALAB AUTh’s data science capabilities, create synergies that enable the successful completion of this ambitious scope, that aims to render NAVARCHOS a world-class, state-of-the-art FMS.
